When you become a member of Eckankar, you receive a discourse series for your personal study. You study one lesson a month at home. If you like, you can also join an ECK Satsang class to share experiences, insights, and questions.

An ECK initiate of many years said, “As I get older, I find myself having a greater love for this old earth.” He wondered if he was becoming too attached.

“When I leave this world,” he mused, “it will be with a smile in one eye and a tear in the other.”

No, he was not getting too attached, I assured him. He was loving himself more as Soul. Didn’t Jesus say to love your neighbor as yourself? What did he mean? Simply this: Before we can love God or others rightly, we must first learn to love ourselves as Soul.

This gentleman was growing in divine love. First, he had come to love himself as a child of God, which then allowed him to love God more. This divine love for himself and for God was now growing to include even this tired, old world.

The purpose of the ECK teachings is to help you become a pure channel for the Light and Sound of God. That’s it, nothing more.

The ECK Satsang Discourses, Fourth Series, are easy to understand. They also show you how to protect yourself in a very turbulent period of history. This means spiritual protection.

All too often, chelas take the amazing teachings of ECK for granted. But not you. The spiritual works of ECK, you know, offer a true seeker the shortest, most direct road home to God.

The Spiritual Exercises of ECK lie at the heart of your inner development. Do them every day. They protect you from the worst powers of the Kal, or negative forces—which try their best to turn you aside from your chosen path to God. The spiritual exercises also help you win spiritual freedom.

Yes, you can learn the purpose of life. What is your spiritual mission?

In a nutshell, your purpose is to learn to give and to receive love. That’s it.

This year of study will give you a broad knowledge of Soul Travel, which is the expansion of consciousness that gives freedom on every plane of God’s creation.

Each of us lives in three worlds at once: the human, the psychic, and the spiritual. Soul Travel is inner travel. With it, we move our consciousness from one of these states to another. Soul Travel is the means to visit the worlds beyond our physical body. Mainly it is a personal experience, a realization of survival. Its purpose is simply to let us reach the heart of God in this lifetime.

Apollonius of Tyana escaped the emperor’s death sentence through Soul Travel. It led Christ to the cosmic consciousness. Through it Rebezar Tarzs, the Tibetan saint, found the Light and Sound of God.

And how is Soul Travel done?

Today, the individual wonders: Where is the better way to God? Can I ever hope to understand and control my own life? Is happiness an empty dream? Where is love to fill my heart? And where is spiritual freedom?

Think back. Try to remember your feelings when you first learned of the ECK teachings. Perhaps you felt excitement or, likely, even a bit of hesitation as you made a bold leap from old to new.

Soon the spiritual changes began within you. Rocky in some cases, but necessary, for the ECK was bringing you into a closer alliance of love with Itself.

The structure behind the whirlpool of everyday events has a divine intent: to nudge you ever closer toward a richer, more direct relationship with the Spirit of God, the ECK.

The purpose of a Satsang Intensive is to deeply explore the ECK works, such as a passage, an article, a Q&A from the Master, a quote from the Shariyat—anything currently published from Sri Harold or Paul Twitchell, that invites true contemplation with the Inner Master.

Here is a valuable reference for anyone seeking to understand the workings of the Holy Spirit in their life.

As we begin to have experiences with the Light and Sound of God, we develop a greater understanding of the spiritual laws of life—laws of wisdom, freedom, and charity, or divine love.

The laws of wisdom speak of divine power and how it manifests in the universe. The laws of freedom are the practical laws that afford a smoother passage through everyday life. The laws of charity are laws that bring Soul a greater capacity to love.

Knowing these laws, we can then make our own life easier.

As awakened captains of our destiny, we can meet today’s challenges in a more relaxed and happy way. The spiritual laws of life give us the many resources to make the very best decision at any one moment.
